What does your brand say about you? – Tutorial no. 2

It’s not whether to do social media – but about doing it well. What does your brand say about you?

  • There is a huge difference between a make-up artist and a counsellor and a model – make sure you are not confusing your followers – or yourself.
  • Know what your aim is, and make sure everything you do focuses on that
  • It helps if your aim is authentic – it is not easy to build a whole brand around something you are not…so think about what your key values are and work to live those on and offline.

Definition of “a Brand”: a type of product manufactured by a particular company under a particular name”.

An identifying mark burned on livestock or (especially in former times) criminals or slaves with a branding iron (source: Oxford dictionary). In the beginning of Industrial revolutions, a brand was backed by a registered company made of a wealthy owner << & sons >>.
Today, you can run a business without registering “yourself” as an official company. You are in this case, a sole trader, risking your own belongings when engaging into financial transactions with customers, suppliers and banks. Choosing to register your business with the local Government, acknowledging the separation of yourself and your company’s assets or taxes, is one online form away to be a reality. In 1800, this type of dreams was inconceivable for the peasants described in books like:

  •  “Les Misérables” by Victor Hugo (1802-1885)
  • “La comédie Humaine” by Honoré de Balzac (1799-1850)
  • “La maison Tellier” by Guy de Maupassant (1850-1893)

Their conditions were doomed to only change by the grace of a look from a wealthy Lord for the women or by the apprenticeship of a Notable business owner without a son for his inheritance. 

The ease of creating a company or starting a business nowadays is still not removing the traditional value of what consist as A BRAND:
– Offline Reality
– Online World
– Mainstream Medium
